One of the distinguishing features of reinsurance companies is that they are able to write significant volumes of premium income with relatively few staff. This is because the insurance companies from whom they obtain their business manage the bulk of the administrative paper work of the business.

The day-to-day implementation of policies, management of operations and finance and administration is performed by three management members – The Managing Director, Deputy Managing Director, General Manager (Finance and Administration) and Technical Managers.

DR. K. ADOM-FRIMPONG

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Dr. Adom-Frimpong is our Managing Director. Dr. Adom-Frimpong has several years’ experience as a practising accountant and insurer. He holds a Doctorate Degree and Masters of Business Administration Degree in Finance, Degrees obtained from the University of Wales, Bangor United Kingdom. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana) In addition; he is a member of Chartered Institute of Bankers and Institute of Data Processing and Management. Dr. Adom-Frimpong joined Mainstream Reinsurance Company Limited in September 1999 as Director of Finance and Administration. He was attached to and trained in reinsurance with Hannover Reinsurance Company Africa in Johannesburg, South Africa in 200. Dr. Adom-Frimpong is also a part-time lecturer at University of Ghana Business School, Legon and Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, (GIMPA.) in Financial Management and Decision Making Accounting.

ALFRED LARYEA SOWAH

GENERAL MANAGER – FINANCE & ADMIN

Alfred is in charge of Accounts, Finance and Administration. He worked with SSNIT (Accounts Department, SSNIT Guest House and Students Loan Unit) for 14 years. He is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (CA Ghana). He has a wide experience in accounting, Auditing and Assurance Services, tax and governance issues. Alfred also holds Masters of Business Administration Degree in Project Management, from University of Ghana, Legon.

MRS AFIA ADDO-GBEDEMAH

General Manager (Technical)

Mrs Afia Addo-Gbedemah has been appointed as the new General Manager (Technical) of Mainstream Reinsurance Company Limited. Mrs Addo-Gbedemah has over 10 years working experience within the insurance industry. She holds an LLB from the University of Exeter with a focus on commercial law as well as an LLM from the University of Hartford school of Law in insurance with a specialization in reinsurance and regulatory law. She also holds an MSc in insurance and Risk Management from Cass business school , UK. Prior to joining Mainstream Re, she worked with Insurance Brokers of Nigeria (IBN) heading up their Energy and Special Risks department, and before that with Marsh and McLennan on their energy team in London. Mrs Addo-Gbedemah has particular interest and specialization in contractual review and placement of complex risks. We welcome her and look forward to the new dynamic she will bring to the Mainstream Re management Team.

JAMES K.A ACQUAH

James joined Mainstream Reinsurance Co. Ltd in September 2000. He holds a B.SC (Hons) Degree in Mathematics and a Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast and a Diploma in Applied Insurance Studies (Malta) through the Ghana Insurance College. He also holds Masters Degree in Statistics. He has also completed an Advance Diploma in Applied Insurance Studies and is a student member of the Chartered Insurance Institute, UK. He has attended various reinsurance seminars and workshops.

ADWOA ANOKYE-MENSAH

Adwoa is in charge of both treaty and facultative. Holds a B.A in Management and Psychology from the University of Ghana, Legon, as well as an Advance Applied Insurance Studies Diploma and a Diploma in Applied Insurance Studies both from Malta International Training Centre. Formerly worked with Donewell Insurance Co. Ltd for 3 years before joining Mainstream Reinsurance Co. Ltd. For about two decades, she has worked with Mainstream Reinsurance Co. Ltd and has gained rich experience through various workshops and seminars she attended. She is also a student member of the Chartered Insurance Institute UK.

VICTORIA EWURAMA BREMPONG

Mrs. Victoria Brempong is a Chartered Insurer by profession and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of UK; she is also a graduate of both West African Insurance Institute (WAII) and Ghana Insurance College (GIC). She holds Advance Executive certificate in Administration and Management from Graduate School of Governance and Leadership.Mrs. Brempong has been working in the Insurance Industry for over twenty years during which she worked with Great African Insurance Co Ltd, Donewell Insurance Company Ltd and Donewell Life Company Ltd. She held several positions in the Underwriting Department, Customer Service Department and Claims Department respectively. She joined Mainstream and was appointed Head of Life Unit in July 2011.

ROBERT KOBINA HAMMOND

Robert is in charge of both facultative and treaty. He worked with Vanguard Assurance Co. Ltd for 5 years as an Assistant Manager at their Reinsurance Department. Before then he had worked with Oman Fofor Trading Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of Japan Motors Co. Ltd as their VAT Accountant. He joined Mainstream Reinsurance Co. Ltd in June 2000. He is a product of Business School – University of Ghana and also a product of Institute of Professional Studies – Legon. He holds BSC (Admin), Insurance option.

ESTHER KWAKYE

Esther is a Manager in the Technical Unit. She holds post graduate degree in Finance and Investment from University of Strathclyde Glasgow- Uk and Bsc. in Land Economy from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. She is a Chartered Insurer and an Associate member of Chartered Insurance Institute UK. She holds Securities Industry Certificate from the Ghana Stock Exchange. She worked with Barclays Wealth a subsidiary of Barclays Bank Plc and Abbey national bank, Glasgow She joined Mainstream Re in 2010.
